The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Paris along with the Permanent Delegation of Sri Lanka to UNESCO organized a large diplomatic reception at the Embassy premises on Tuesday, 5th February 2013.
A large number of Ambassadors and Permanent Delegates accredited to France and UNESCO were present on this occasion. These included the Ambassadors of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Congo, Croatia, Cuba, Holy See, Iran, Lebanon, Madagascar, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Poland, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Singapore, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. In addition, Deputy Heads of Mission and senior diplomats of many countries including India, Indonesia, Iraq, Maldives, Monaco, South Africa and the United Kingdom, among others, were also present.
Senior officials of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Energy, Ecology and Sustainable Development as well as other local authorities and security agencies were also present.
Several heads of French companies, associations and business establishments that engage in trade and tourism with Sri Lanka were also present including officials of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of France.
The large and distinguished gathering expressed their good wishes on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Independence and many who had visited Sri Lanka in the recent past recalled fond memories of their travels and expressed their goodwill towards the country.
Intricately woven boxes of tea were presented to all guests at the end of the event.
