Award winning “Nikini Vessa” (August Drizzle) a Sinhala film was screened at Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC) recently.
The film show which was organized by the Sri Lanka Mission in Bangkok attracted many viewers and the BACC Hall was fully packed. The majority of the audience comprised of Thai nationals. Among them, were Directors, writers, cameramen etc. associated with the Thai film industry.
H.E. the Ambassador briefing the audience on the background and history of Sri Lankan cinema noted that Sri Lanka has ideal locations for filming which is being and has been amply utilized by Hollywood and even to a certain extent by Indian cinema industry. He invited the professionals associated with Thai cinema industry to visit Sri Lanka to see for themselves the scenic beauty Sri Lanka posses.
“Nikini Vessa” which won the “Golden Cyclo” for the best film at the 18th Vesoul International Film Festival of ASIAN Cinema in France was directed by Mr. Aruna Jayawardena who along with the second lead actress Ms. Sulochana Weerasinghe were present at the event.
The audience who enjoyed the film posed questions on the theme of the film and the characters, which were well answered by the Director.
