On behalf of the Government and the people of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and on my own behalf, I extend deepest condolences to the family of the late Yukiya Amano.
Mr. Amano would be remembered as an outstanding diplomat and a principled supporter of strengthening international security and stability. During his decade-long tenure as the Director-General of the IAEA, he has contributed greatly to enhance the efficiency of the Agency. I also recall with profound appreciation the support and cooperation extended by the late Director-General, in further consolidating the IAEA – Sri Lanka relations.
The family of the United Nations has also lost an exceptional public servant.
