INTERPOL has issued the Red Notice arrest warrant for Perinpanayagam Sivaparan known by his nom de guerre Nediyawan who is currently based in Norway.
Norwegian authorities had earlier said that they were awaiting the INTERPOL warrant which was yet to be updated on the website by last week.
In response to the Norwegian comments, Police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana had said that the details pertaining to Nediyawan had been dispatched to INTERPOL and they were evaluating it.
Meanwhile, as of yesterday, INTERPOL had uploaded the Red Notice for Nediyawan’s arrest on the INTERPOL website saying he is wanted in Sri Lanka for terrorism.
Nediyawan is among over 430 individuals and organisations listed by the Government recently under a UN regulation over their alleged links to terrorism.
The Government claims Nediyawan is actively involved in attempts to revive the LTTE in Sri Lanka and linked him with the recent incident involving a former LTTE member identified as Gobi.
