The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) in collaboration with the Sri Lanka High Commission in London recently launched a web based information gathering system to help Sri Lankan students to find placement/employment opportunities in Sri Lankan blue chip companies. The launch took place at the High Commission. His Excellency Dr Chris Nonis, High Commissioner welcomed the Sri Lankan students who attended the launch and outlined the conducive macro economic environment that is developing in Sri Lanka. He also outlined the importance of international exposure, and the value these graduates would bring to the domestic economy especially during Sri Lanka’s economic ascendancy. The ever expanding private sector has created many opportunities locally and abroad. It is vital that Sri Lankan educated youth join the main stream of development efforts and new business ventures and engage in rewarding and exciting careers which are appropriate to their educational qualifications and aspirations.

Mr Asoka Hettigoda, President of the NCCSL who introduced the process of log in and registration mentioned that the objective of the project is to match the gap between companies and students who will be looking for placement and employment opportunities in Sri Lankan companies. The students should visit the web site www.nccsl.lk for registration.

Many of the Sri Lankan students who were present expressed their enthusiasm and willingness to go back to Sri Lanka and work for their motherland. Mr Saman Ekanayake, Minister in charge of the Education and Culture Division of the High Commission will follow up the project to ensure it is sustainable.
