Consul General of Sri Lanka in Guangzhou, Priyangika Dharmasena attended the Memorial Service conducted by the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology and the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Guangzhou, in memory of the two Chinese nationals of their institutes who lost their lives in the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks. At this event, she met with the bereaved families, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, Zhang Yaping, Director of the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, Zhang Si, and expressed her deepest condolences for the tragic demise of such learned professionals. Director of the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology, while thanking the Consul General’s presence, informed that, despite the death of two of their erudite staff in tragic circumstances, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the South China Institute of Oceanology hope to continue and enhance relations between the two institutes and Sri Lanka. Two wreaths were offered by the Consulate of Sri Lanka at the Memorial Service.
