The India ASEAN Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Chennai, partnering with the Coimbatore Chamber of Commerce & Industry organized the IMPA Trade Fair 2024 from 9 to 11 March at Tex Valley, Erode, Tamil Nadu. Erode is a textile hub in Tamil Nadu specializing in hand-loom and knitwear. Erode is also one of the largest producers of food products, poultry, coconut and coconut oil in India.
Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai Dr. D. Venkateshwaran and Minister (Commerce) of the Mission G. L. Gnanatheva attended the event at the invitation of the Chamber. The Trade Chamber in Coimbatore in association with the India ASEAN Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce & Industry, for the first time organized a Buyer Seller Meet with Sri Lanka Trade and Investment Forum in collaboration with the Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka in Chennai.
The Deputy High Commissioner delivered the inaugural speech of the Sri Lanka Trade and Investment Forum which was chaired by the Vice President of the Chamber Jambunathan Elango. It was followed by a presentation by Minister (Commerce) of the Deputy High Commission of Sri Lanka G. L. Gnanatheva on Sri Lanka's trade, investment and tourism potentials to Indian entrepreneurs. Further, individual entrepreneurs had discussions on the potential opportunities for the related industries of Erode in Sri Lanka. They also explored advantages of exporting to other countries through Sri Lanka.
Nearly 150 companies from Erode and the adjacent States like Kerala and Karnataka participated in the Business Forum. They had individual discussions with the Minister (Commerce) regarding the Trade and Investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, subsequently.
