The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Malaysia Air Chief Marshal (Rtd.) Sumangala Dias held an engaging and interactive meeting with the Malaysia-Sri Lanka Business Council (MSLBC) on 25 July 2024 at the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Kuala Lumpur. The meeting aimed at foster stronger economic ties between the two countries.
During the interactive session, High Commissioner Dias congratulated the newly appointed Executive Members of the MSLBC, acknowledging their pivotal role in steering the council towards greater success. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing the current trade imbalance, highlighting the need to support increased exports from Sri Lanka to Malaysia and, to promote Malaysia as a key outbound tourism market for Sri Lanka.
Chairman of the Council Krishna Kumar expressed his commitment to bolstering business relations and pledged unwavering support for initiatives aimed at expanding trade. He particularly underscored the Council’s dedication to enhancing Sri Lankan exports to Malaysia and encouraging Malaysian investments in Sri Lanka.
In response, High Commissioner Dias reiterated the High Commission’s commitment to promoting economic diplomacy and facilitating the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations with Malaysia. He emphasized that the High Commission will continue to work diligently to create favorable conditions for business expansion and economic collaboration.
