High Commissioner meets with the Chairman and members of the Gujranwala Business Centre (GBC) in Gujranwala.

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Rear Admiral Fred Senevirathne, met with the Chairman of GBC and the manufacturers & businessmen of Gujranwala on 25 September 2025 at GBC.

Gujranwala Business Centre (GBC) is a public sector enterprise operating under the Ministry of Industries and Production of the Government of Pakistan. Its core objective is to promote and advance the industrial sector in Gujranwala by leveraging a robust network of over 1,500 national and international partners, including Sri Lanka. GBC oversees Pakistan’s largest permanent display facility, which showcases products from 52 diverse business sectors—bringing together the finest of Gujranwala’s industrial output under one roof.

High Commissioner Senevirathne was warmly received at the Gujranwala Business Centre (GBC) by the Chairman, Executive Members, and the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka to Lahore. During the meeting, the Chairman briefed the High Commissioner on the objectives and key activities of the GBC, including the recent delegation visit to Sri Lanka comprising manufacturers from Gujranwala. He further highlighted GBC’s role in fostering connectivity between the business communities of Sri Lanka and Pakistan, and noted the signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during Expo 2025 held in April.

High Commissioner Fred Senevirathne expressed his appreciation to the Chairman and the participating manufacturers at GBC for their warm hospitality, as well as for organizing the meeting and facilitating the visit to their exhibition stalls.

During the discussion, High Commissioner Senevirathne provided an overview of Sri Lanka’s current political and economic landscape, highlighting the new Government’s commitment to good governance and its vision to expand opportunities for foreign investment. He further outlined the facilities and advantages available to foreign investors in Sri Lanka, emphasizing the Government’s commitment to fostering a competitive and investor-friendly environment.

The High Commissioner also extended an invitation to the Pakistani entrepreneurs and investors to explore opportunities in Sri Lanka’s dynamic sectors, including tourism and leisure, information technology, agriculture, apparel, export manufacturing, education, export services, and infrastructure. He also noted that the Sri Lankan business community is eager to strengthen its engagement with Pakistan’s vibrant industries, fostering mutually beneficial partnerships between the two nations.
