The Sri Lanka High Commission in Pretoria proudly showcased Sri Lankan culture and hospitality at an event hosted by Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool on 12 March 2026.
The school invited the High Commission to exhibit and promote Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage, its strong cricketing tradition, and its attractive tourism destinations. This initiative was particularly significant as the school’s cricket team—comprising 26 players and 4 coaching/support staff—is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka for an upcoming cricket tour in June/July.
To familiarize the students and attendees with Sri Lanka’s cultural diversity and warm hospitality, while promoting goodwill and strengthening youth ties between Sri Lanka and South Africa, the High Commission presented key tourism highlights of the country. Guests were also served with authentic Ceylon tea along with a selection of traditional Sri Lankan snacks. A specially curated video featuring Sri Lanka’s cricket legends and iconic tourism destinations was also screened, further enhancing the experience.
Approximately 300 guests attended the event and enjoyed the opportunity to experience Sri Lankan cuisine and tea, making the evening both engaging and memorable.
