The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Kuala Lumpur embraced the spirit of Diwali, the Festival of Lights cherished by Hindus across the globe, with a vibrant celebration that embodied Sri Lanka’s commitment to unity and reconciliation.

The festivities took place on 07 November 2024 at the High Commission premises,  with around 100 participants, including members of the diverse Sri Lankan community in Malaysia, the Federation of Malaysia Sri Lanka Business Council (FOMSO), Sri Lanka Malaysia Business Council (SLMBC), Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM), Kuala Lumpur Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce (KLCCI), Small and Medium Enterprises Association of Malaysia (SAMENTA), Malaysian Sinhalese Association (MSA), Sri Lankan Workers Welfare Association (SLWWA), journalists, well-wishers, private sector leaders, and distinguished Malaysian officials.

The High Commission grounds, adorned with intricate kolam designs, radiated the essence of Diwali. Attendees enjoyed sharing traditional Sri Lankan Diwali cuisine with each other. Hindu religious pooja was conducted and blessings were invoked by Swami Karthik Kurukkal from Petaling Maha Mariamman Temple.
