The staff of the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Dhaka, Bangladesh ceremonially commenced work for the year 2025 with a special programme held at the High Commission premises on 01 January 2025.
The programme commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Dhaka, Dharmapala Weerakkody and the staff of the High Commission singing the national anthem. A two-minute silence was observed to commemorate all who sacrificed their lives for the country.
The High Commissioner, in his address, highlighted the importance of the public officials discharging their duties efficiently with a citizen-centered approach to public service, in order to steer the country to achieve inclusive socio-economic development while adhering to the policies of the government. He also requested all staff members to contribute actively to further promote the existing Bangladesh- Sri Lanka multifaceted bilateral partnership into a more vibrant cooperation, benefiting the two countries.
Afterward, all staff members joined the live broadcast of the national ceremony of the “Clean Sri Lanka” Programme, launched by the President at the Presidential Secretariat and pledged the oath on “Clean Sri Lanka”.
The programme concluded with serving a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast and Ceylon tea.
