The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand Wijayanthi Edirisinghe witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Halal Assessment Council of Sri Lanka and the Halal Science Center at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. The signing ceremony was held at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok on 28 August 2024.
The MoU marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration between the two institutions, aiming to elevate halal standards and practices in both countries. The partnership will focus on advancing scientific research, improving halal assessment methods, and promoting innovation within the halal industry.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ambassador Edirisinghe stated that the MoU would strengthen bilateral ties between Sri Lanka and Thailand and that it reflects on the shared commitment and the strong relationship between the two countries in advancing the halal industry. Counsellor (Commercial) of the Embassy, Vireshika Bandara also attended the event.
