With a view to raise awareness among ambassadors, High Commissioners and Counsel based in Colombo on the investment opportunities in and around Hambantota, which is rapidly developing under the Hambantota Development Project, and to attract potential investors from those countries, a field tour programme has been organized on October 5 and 6, under the guidance of External Affairs Minister Prof G L Peiris and Hambantota District MP Namal Rajapaksa.
During the tour, the envoys will be visiting the construction sites of Magampura harbour and Mattala airport, as well as Suriyawewa Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium. The foreign envoys will be briefed on investment opportunities by Urban Development Authority chairman Janaka Kurukulasuriya at the Hambantota administrative complex, by Ports Authority chairman Priyath Bandu Wickrama at the Magampura harbour complex and by Sri Lankan Airlines chairman Prasanna Wickramasuriya at the Mattala Airport site, on October 5.
This occasion will be graced by External Affairs Minister Prof G L Peiris, MP, Namal Rajapaksa and people's representatives of the area.
