Increasing interaction with the local communities in the host country and celebrating the contribution of women to economy, the Embassy of Sri Lanka hosted the members from two women’s cooperatives from the Elmadag Municipality to showcase their products at the Embassy premises on the International Women's Day.
It was an opportunity for the women’s cooperatives to introduce their home made local organic food, beverages, local handicrafts, and clothing to the diplomatic community in Ankara as well as other Turkish people who are living in and around the Embassy.
The event brought much positive feedback including from Turkish visitors, as some of these local products were even unknown to them.
This was yet another activity of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara to connect with local community and enhance people-to-people contacts. This arrangement was proposed by the Ambassador of Sri Lanka after her visit to the Elmadag Municipality in January 2024.
