The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Stockholm celebrated Christmas on 8 December 2018 at Heliga Trefaldighets Katolska Församling, a Catholic Church in Stockholm. The Sri Lankan community living in Sweden along with the Embassy staff participated in the celebrations.
The Chargé ď Affaires of the Embassy welcomed the gathering and highlighted the importance of Christmas. He also emphasized the need for loving neighbours, showing kindness and compassion in order to create goodwill, peace, harmony and friendship amongst all human beings to ensure peace and prosperity around the world.
Rev. Sister Jenny Salaj and Rev. Father Pancho Chin A Loi invoked blessings and conducted religious observances. Lucia Song and parade were performed by the Sri Lankan children living in Sweden. Lucia is an ancient mythical figure with an abiding role as a bearer of light in the dark Swedish winters.
The Sri Lankan community performed Christmas carols at the event.
The evening concluded with a reception which included an array of traditional and special Sri Lankan foods.
