Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kuwait Marks the Commencement of year 2025

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kuwait held a formal ceremony on 01 January 2025 to mark the commencement of the first working day of the new year. The event, attended by Chargé d’Affaires a.i. and all staff members of the Mission, served as an opportunity to reaffirm their collective commitment to serving the nation and its citizens abroad.

The ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by the singing of the national anthem, creating a sense of unity and patriotism among the participants. In line with the government’s “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, the Mission resolved to uphold the programme's five guiding principles: unity, accountability, frugality, transparency, and equality. These principles underscore the Embassy’s dedication to serving the people of Sri Lanka without caste, religious, or political biases.

Addressing the staff, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. extended warm wishes for the new year and emphasized the critical importance of teamwork in achieving the Mission’s objectives. Highlighting the challenges facing Sri Lanka, the Head of Mission underlined the need for collective efforts to rebuild the nation and deliver meaningful public service to over 160,000 Sri Lankan migrant workers residing in Kuwait.

Staff members were reminded of their duty to align with government policies, exhibit professionalism, and maintain the dignity of the Mission in all interactions, particularly with Kuwaiti nationals. The Chargé d’Affaires a.i. reiterated that their actions reflect the image of Sri Lanka abroad and urged everyone to contribute towards strengthening bilateral ties and promoting the country’s positive image.

The Mission pledged to continue its efforts to overcome challenges, provide exceptional services, and act as a cohesive unit for the betterment of the people of Sri Lanka.
