Sri Lanka Embassy in Beijing won the Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Award at the 21st International Foreign Diplomats’ National Costume and Fashion Show held in Beijing, organized by the China International Friendship and Culture Festival Committee on 29 January 2019.
The staff of the Embassy and their family members participated as models and showcased different types of Sri Lankan national dresses. The Sri Lankan team was mainly dressed in Sri Lankan handloom and batik costumes.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing actively participates in events of this nature to showcase Sri Lankan culture and weaving heritage, and has won a number of awards so far.
