Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bahrain Commences Work for the Year 2025 with a Commitment to the “Clean Sri Lanka” National Programme

 

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Kingdom of Bahrain officially commenced work for the New Year 2025 with a solemn ceremony held on 02 January 2025 at the Embassy premises. The event was conducted in alignment with the "Clean Sri Lanka" National Programme, launched under the visionary leadership of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The ceremony was commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Bahrain Madhuka Silva, followed by the singing of the national anthem. The staff observed a two-minute silence in tribute to all Sri Lankans who laid down their lives in service to the nation.

As part of the proceedings, the staff took the “Clean Sri Lanka” oath, pledging their commitment to fostering teamwork and accountability to support the government’s initiative, which signifies the beginning of a year dedicated to collective action, fostering unity, and implementing policies aimed at sustainable development for the benefit of all Sri Lankans.

Addressing the staff, the Chargé d'Affaires a.i. highlighted the broader vision of the “Clean Sri Lanka” project, beyond environmental cleanup efforts, aiming to restore the status of the social and environmental fabric of the country with an aim to create cleanliness and rejuvenation across all sectors of society for the betterment of the citizens. While extending her heartfelt wishes for a harmonious and prosperous new year to all staff members and their families, she emphasized the need for dedication and unity in aligning the Embassy’s efforts with the government’s commitment to national progress and sustainable development.The Chargé d'Affaires a.i. further encouraged her staff to maintain their spirit of collaboration and unity to successfully accomplish the work targets set for the new year.

In addition to the staff, members of the Sri Lankan community who visited the Embassy were served with traditional Sri Lankan delicacies, symbolizing cultural pride and welcoming in 2025 with sincerity and compassion.
