Christmas was celebrated at the Chancery premises of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Beijing, bringing together the Sri Lankan community including students and Chinese well wishes as well as friends of Sri Lanka.

In his welcome remarks, CDA a.i. K. K. Yoganaadan highlighted that during Christmas people set aside differences and embrace shared humanity. He said that Christmas transcends religious boundaries, fostering a global sense of unity, joy, and shared goodwill. In this spirit, Christmas is continued to be celebrated in Sri Lanka and the Embassy, he said.

Reverend Father Simon Zhu Jie from the Archdiocese of Beijing, who is also the Secretary-General and Chaplain for International Communities, graced the occasion with a special prayer, extending blessings to the Sri Lankan community in China and the people of Sri Lanka. A message on the significance of Christmas was delivered by the Deputy Chief of Mission Poornima Gunasekera.

The vibrant celebrations featured the Christmas carols by the members of the Xishiku Choir from the North Cathedral in Beijing, Embassy staff and their family members. The festivities were followed by a special Christmas dinner.
