“Menace of terrorism is over; its time to intensify our economic engagement with Sri Lanka” said Ambassador Grace Asirwatham while addressing the members of the Netherlands – Sri Lanka Business Council in The Hague on 10th December.
The Embassy in The Hague held a meeting with the members of the Sri Lanka – Netherland Business Council to brief the Dutch entrepreneurs of the favorable situation in the country for trade and investment, with a view to encourage the Business Council to work closely with the Embassy to promote economic interests of Sri Lanka. The Ambassador outlined the Embassy’s plan of action for the year 2010 which endeavors to strengthen the bilateral trade relations between Sri Lanka and the Netherlands through creating awareness of business potential in Sri Lanka as well as interaction between the business communities of the two countries.
The President of the Business Council Mr. Bernard Menken while appreciating the efforts of the Embassy towards enhancing bilateral trade relations assured that the Council will work closely with the Embassy to implement the action plan proposed for 2010. The meeting was followed by a Reception attended by key officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Chambers of Commerce, trade agencies, travel writers and leading travel agencies.
