A delegation from India headed by Vice Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral RK Dhowan is participating in the International Maritime Security Conference, “Galle Dialogue 2012”, which began today in the southern Sri Lankan Port City of Galle.
The “Galle Dialogue” was inaugurated in 2010 as a forum to discuss and exchange views on regional maritime security concerns. The annual event is organized by the Sri Lanka Navy under the aegis of the Ministry of Defence. This year, the Dialogue is held on 13 and 14 December under the theme ‘Strategic Maritime Cooperation and Partnerships to face the future with Confidence” and will emphasize that the achievement of maritime security and prosperity requires collective effort of all nations and stakeholders working in partnership.
Local and foreign scholars and experts in maritime and naval affairs representing 29 countries are expected to share their views at the two-day Dialogue. International participants at the Dialogue include Defence Attachés from Australia, Canada, France, Indonesia, Israel, Nigeria, Kenya and Zambia, based in New Delhi.
