The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Los Angeles participated at an annual event “International Trade Outlook” jointly organized by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation and the World Trade Center Association Los Angeles-Long Beach at Renaissance Long Beach Hotel, California on 15th May, 2013. The program focused the Los Angeles County as America’s international trade capital and gateway to the global economy.
More than 500 prominent business executives, government officials and members of the diplomatic corps participated at this significant event.
Dr. Hector Weerasinghe, Consul General and Mr. Sidath Kumar, Consul/Minister (Commercial) of the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Los Angeles took an initiative to promote Sri Lanka tourism, export commodities and investment at this event. DVDs on tourism, doing business in Sri Lanka, investment opportunities and trade directory and promotional brochures on tourism, tour packages and certain products such as tea and spices were distributed among the participants.
Both the Consul General and the Consul (Commercial) briefed the interested parties on business and investment opportunities and projected that Sri Lanka is an attractive tourist destination after eliminating terrorism in May 2009.
Among the organizations that promoted their products and services, the Sri Lanka Consulate out of the diplomatic missions in Los Angeles, got the opportunity to undertake a promotional campaign. The Sri Lanka Consulate’s participation paved the way to make awareness of Sri Lanka and its tourism, trade and investment prospects.
