Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai assists Sri Lankans during UAE’s Amnesty Programme 2024

 

The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai and the Northern Emirates extended comprehensive support to the Sri Lankan community in the UAE during the United Arab Emirates Amnesty Programme 2024. This initiative, held from 01 September to 31 December 2024, allowed individuals to either regularize their visa status or return to Sri Lanka without facing penalties.

 

Key statistics from the Amnesty Programme are as follows:

 

  • 13,434 individuals visited the Consulate General during regular consular hours and special amnesty consular hours seeking assistance/services
  • 2232 Passports applications have been accepted
  • 1236 Temporary Travel Documents (TTDs) and 344 Non-Machine-Readable Passports (NMRP) have been issued to those who does not hold a valid Passport or lost Passports.
  • 1346 air tickets have been purchased through special counters located at the Consulate General premises by SriLankan Airlines and Fits Air
