Consul General of Sri Lanka in Guangzhou, Priyangika Dharmasena, attended the Opening Ceremony of the 16th China ASEAN Exposition (CAEXPO) held from 20-21 September 2019 in Nanning, in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The Consul General also visited the Guangxi Medical University in Nanning, where many Sri Lankan students are studying for their Bachelor’s degrees in Clinical Medicine. In the university, she had a discussion with Vice Dean Wei Jianhui, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Department of the Guangxi Medical University Chen Yuanyuan and Consultant Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Guangxi Region Rong Xiangquin to further enhance cooperation in the area of education, including acquiring scholarships and education exchange programmes for Sri Lankan students.
The Consul General also met with the Sri Lankan students to look into their welfare.
During the stay, the Consul General also visited the Sri Lankan gem exhibitors who participated at the fair, met with the CAEXPO Secretariat officials and also made a visit to the China ASEAN Agricultural Exposition which showcased and marketed local and ASEAN agricultural food products.
