An ambitious and eye-catching Ceylon Tea advertising program targeting the Middle East/Gulf Region was launched by Mahinda Samarasinghe, Minister of Plantation Industries at both Dubai and Sharjah International Airports recently.The Dubai International Airport which was registered as the second busiest after London, Heathrow for international passenger traffic with almost 67 Million people patronizing it in 2013, is tipped to become the world's busiest airport this year (2014) with a projected 70 Million people to be using it.
The Ceylon Tea promotional boards constructed at Terminal 3 of the Dubai Airport which caters to the largest passenger traffic will cover transit as well as departing passenger for the peak 03 months winter period from 1st October to 31st December 2014 at a cost of SL Rs. 27.5 million allocated by Sri Lanka Tea Board through its Promotion and Marketing Levy.
During this winter period, the estimated traffic through Dubai Airport is 20 million passengers for the quarter and the Terminal 3 will be patronized by 20 million x 65% =13 million passengers who are believed to see at least some of the 20 boards. As per past records, 65% of the passenger traffic goes through Terminal 3 of the Dubai International Airport per year.
The Sharjah Airport which is the home for "Air Arabia" Airline will cater to 8.2 million passengers in 2014 most from Gulf Cooperation Council and traffic entering UAE. The 12 illuminated scrolling mupies cover the arrival, departure as well as transit passengers of Sharjah International Airport.
