The staff of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jordan conducted a special ceremony at the Mission premises on 01 January 2025 to mark the commencement of the work for the new year.
The event commenced with the lighting of the oil lamp by Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Jordan J.A.D.S. Priyangika Wijegunasekara and diplomatic staff, followed by the singing of the national anthem. A two minute of silence was observed to commemorate the war heroes and others who sacrificed their lives for the motherland.
The staff of the Embassy took an oath pledging their commitment to serving the people while contributing to the country's social and economic development in line with the “Clean Sri Lanka,” national initiative.
Addressing the staff, the Ambassador extended her new year greetings to the staff and expressed her gratitude for their hard work and dedication in achieving the objectives of the Mission throughout the previous year. She also highlighted the continued dedication of the staff in fulfilling Embassy's objectives in order to meet the needs of the Sri Lankan community in Jordan and Sri Lanka as a whole.
The ceremonial event concluded with a traditional breakfast.
