The staff of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Egypt ceremonially commenced work for the year 2020, with a special programme held at the Embassy Premises on 01 January 2020.
The programme commenced with the religious observances followed by the hoisting of the National Flag of Sri Lanka at the Chancery building by Ambassador of Sri Lanka in the Arab Republic of Egypt Damayanthie Rajapakse. The National Anthems of Sri Lanka and Egypt were sung by the Embassy staff.

Two minutes’ silence was observed to commemorate war heroes and all those who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the Motherland. The oath of Public Servants was read by the staff.
The Ambassador in her brief remarks thanked the staff for the cooperation extended by them and stressed the need to work as a team to strengthen bonds of friendship and synergies between the Sri Lanka and Egypt. The Ambassador also highlighted that as government officials, there is a necessity to implement public polices and goals efficiently, productively, with honesty, to the benefit of the motherland.
The entire staff enjoyed Sri Lankan and Egyptian delicacies at the conclusion of the programme.
