The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Israel organized Vesak celebration programme at the “EVE” hall in Tel Aviv, Israel on Saturday 13th May 2017 with the support and the participation of Sri Lankan community in Israel. The hall was decorated with the Vesak lanterns and the Buddhist flags.
At the invitation of the Embassy, Venerable Wadamaldeniye Somaloka Thero attended the occasion from Sri Lanka and conducted the religious ceremony, including the Buddha Pooja and Dhamma sermon. Venerable Bambarabotuwe Ananda Mangala Thero from the United Kingdom and Venerable Bhikku Pangnanando from Israel also honored the above Vesak Festival with their participation.
The Ambassador of Myanmar and the Deputy Ambassador of Thailand also graced this event.
The staff of the Embassy organized a Sangha Dana (Almsgiving to the Buddhist Monks). The participants appreciated the arrangements made by the Embassy for inviting Venerable Wadamaldeniye Somaloka Thero to invoke blessings on them.
During the programme, the Sri Lankans living in Israel were treated with Dana (lunch).
