The Embassy participated in the inauguration of the first ever Sri Lankan Buddhist temple which was established at the premises of a high rise apartment complex in the greater Tel Aviv area. The Buddhist temple headed by Ven. Karavilakotuwe Dhammathilaka Thero, the chief incumbent will now cater to the spiritual needs of the approx. 7000 Sri Lankan community in Israel.

A three member official delegation led by Mr. Razik Zarook/ Chairman of the Bank of Ceylon and Mr. Amal Senalankhadikara, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment along with Mr. Herath Mudiyanse, Senior Deputy General Manager of the Bank of Ceylon visited Israel from 22nd to 25th October 2013 to conduct a Promotional Seminar on “Remittances to Sri Lanka” on an invitation extended by Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in Israel Mr. Sarath Wijesinghe.
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to France and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, Professor Karunaratne Hangwatte was unanimously elected to chair the 19th session of the General Assembly of States Parties to the World Heritage Convention at the opening of the sessions yesterday (19.11.2013)

Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Italy, Nawalage Bennet Cooray, presented Credentials, accrediting him as Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Italy to H.E. Giorgio Napolitano, the President of the Republic of Italy at the Presidential Palace in Rome on 30th October 2013.
