Sri Lanka – Korea joint Research on Oral Cancer: Donation of a Cone Beam CT Scanner
Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea recently organized a ceremony to support Sri Lanka in oral cancer research. Oral cancer is one of the most common cancers prevalent in Sri Lankan patients. Unfortunately, the prognosis of the cancer is poor and leads to high morbidity and mortality rates. Despite these facts, research in this field is inadequate due to the lack of infrastructure facilities that would help promote advanced research.
“Can you hear us now?” – Giving a Voice to the Children and Young People
The Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of the Netherlands, UNICEF, Child Helpline International and the 2nd Floor Youth Helpline organized the launch of the publication “the voices of children and young people” at the United Nations on November 20 th 2013. The UN Children’s Day is also celebrated on this day.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Seoul participated at the 2013 SIWA & Diplomatic Bazaar which was recently held in Seoul.
The SIWA & Diplomatic Bazaar, organized by the Seoul International Women's Association (SIWA), is one of the leading fundraising events with a history of more than 30 years. This annual Bazaar attracts a large number of Korean visitors and foreign expatriates living in Seoul. Organizations and over 50 Embassies attend the event to share their culture, food and festivities and to ultimately, raise funds to support charities.

The University of Hamburg in collaboration with Sri Lanka Association in Hamburg, Germany, organized the 11th South Asia Day at the University. This is the 11th successive year the university organized the event focusing on South Asia.
