The renowned annual Surajkund Mela organised annually by the Surajkund Mela Authority under the aegis of the Haryana state Tourism Ministry and the Indian Union Ministries of Tourism, Textiles and Culture is being held this year from 1-15 February . The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok celebrated the 66th anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka on 4th February 2014 with the participation of Hon. Governor of Sri Ayutthaya Province of Thailand, a large number of expatriate Sri Lankan community members living in Thailand and well-wishers.
The auspicious ceremony commenced with the Ambassador hoisting the National Flag amidst playing of Magul Bera at the official residence. A two-minute silence was observed in honour of all war heroes who laid their lives to preserve and protect the freedom, unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the motherland.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta celebrated the 66th Independence Day of Sri Lanka at the Embassy premises on 04th February 2014, with the participation of religious leaders, dignitaries of the Indonesian institutions and agencies, a large number of Sri Lankans living in Indonesia and Indonesian school children, who joined for the occasion for the first time in the history of the Embassy in Jakarta.
