A delegation led by the Chairperson of the Business Women Wing of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hemlata C Bhoota called on Sri Lanka High Commissioner to India, Austin Fernando, recently. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss opportunities for expanding trade and investment between the State of Gujarat and Sri Lanka.
During the meeting Sri Lanka High Commissioner to India, welcomed the delegation from the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry and highlighted the long standing trade and economic relations between Sri Lanka and India, and reiterated the importance of exploring business potential in Sri Lanka by the members of the Business Women Wing of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He apprised the business delegation on current situation in Sri Lanka and emphasized on the progressive steps taken by the Sri Lanka government for the revival of the business and tourism industry under post terror attack in the country. High Commissioner encouraged the members of the BWW of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry to continue their engagement with Sri Lanka to explore business and investment opportunities.
Chairperson of the Business Women Wing of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed her appreciation to the Sri Lanka High Commissioner for sharing highlights on recent economic developments in the country and proposed the Sri Lanka High Commission to organize a Sri Lanka Business & Investment Forum in the State of Gujarat, in association with the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry, for direct engagement with the members to enhance business collaboration between the private sector of the State of Gujarat and Sri Lanka.
