Act with collective responsibility to defeat conspirators – Minister GL

Local and foreign elements that are arraigned against Sri Lanka have not changed their stance but their methodologies have been refined. In order to defeat their strategies, the Ministry of External Affairs has been assigned the task of proactively engaging with the international community. In order to achieve success everybody should act with a collective sense of responsibility, said External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris at a ceremony attended by the staff of the Ministry of External Affairs to launch the New Year Programme.

Canada’s Minister for Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Jason Kenney called on External Affairs Minister Prof G.L. Pieris yesterday. It was noted that a ministerial level visit from Canada was taking place after three years and the two ministers welcomed the opportunity for a candid exchange of views on a range of bilateral issues.

Buddhist Religious Ceremony and Blood Donation at the Sri Lanka Embassy, Cairo

The Sri Lanka Embassy together with the Sri Lanka Association in Cairo organized a Buddhist Religious Ceremony at the Embassy premises from 27th - 28th December 2012 to invoke blessings to President, Mahinda Rajapaksa and all Sri Lankans for the New Year.

The religious ceremony was conducted by Venerable Professor Induragare Dhammaratana Thero, Senior Lecturer of the University of Kelaniya. At the request of the Embassy, the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment sponsored the travel arrangement of Venerable Thero.
