Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Egypt presents Credentials

 

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Egypt Sisira Senavirathne presented his Letters of Credence to President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, on March 24 2025, at the credential ceremony held at Al-Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo.

The President Al-Sisi, through the Ambassador, extended his sincere best wishes to his counterpart the President of Sri Lanka. He also congratulated Sri Lanka’s newly appointed Ambassador and assured the Sri Lankan envoy of Egypt’s fullest support in carrying out his official duties and mission in the future.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Egypt is also concurrently accredited to six other countries, including the State of Libya, the Republic of the Sudan, the Kingdom of Morocco, the Republic of Tunisia, the State of Eretria and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

Prior to his appointment as Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Egypt, Ambassador Senavirathne served as the Director General of Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism in Colombo. He is also career diplomat with over 22 years of experience. Having joined the Sri Lanka Foreign Service in 2003, he has held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Sri Lankan missions abroad. Prior to his appointment as Ambassador to Egypt, he served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Sri Lanka Embassy in Italy preceded by his appointments in Sri Lanka’s Diplomatic Missions in the UAE, Bahrain, Berlin, and Norway.

Ambassador Senavirathne holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Peradeniya and a Master’s degree on Political Economy of European Integration from the Berlin School of Economics and Law in Germany.
