Sri Lanka’s Ambassador Jaliya Wickramasuriya hosted a holiday reception at his official residence Dec. 9 for senior officials from the White House, the U.S. State Department, the US Defense Department, as well as non-government organizations, think tanks and U.S. companies.
In his welcome address, Ambassador Wickramasuriya informed the guests of the new developments in Sri Lanka and the importance of peace and support for Sri Lanka.
He also delivered a message from His Excellency, President Rajapaksa, stating that “there is no development without peace, and there is no reconciliation without peace and development”.
The Ambassador thanked the guests for their support and assistance to Sri Lanka and wished everyone a happy holiday and a prosperous New Year.
Afterwards, the guests enjoyed Sri Lankan food and drink and listened to Christmas carols sung by Mrs. Angelika Silva.
