Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Brazil General Jagath Jayasuriya, concurrently accredited to Colombia presented his credentials to His Excellency Juan Manuel Santos Calderón, President of Colombia at the president´s palace in Bogota on 16th February 2017.
At the Presentation of credentials General Jagath Jayasuriya conveyed greetings of H.E. the President of Sri Lanka and briefed the significant developments taken place under the unity government. Ambassador also congratulated H.E. the President on winning the Nobel Peace Prize and for the sucess of the peace process of Colombia.
After presenting credentials, Ambassador General Jagath Jayasuriya had opportunity to meet Hon. Maria Ángela Holguin Cuéllar, Minister of Foreign Affairs and highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
Ambassador also met Mr. Alfredo Ramos - Director of the Asia, Africa and Oceania, Ms. Maria Poula Arenas Director of Trade Relations at Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, and Mr. Manuel Felipe Becerra - Director of International Affairs of the Ministry of Defence. During meetings, Ambassador General Jagath Jayasuriya emphasized importance of enhancing bilateral relations, trade relations and exchange of experts in the field of trade and defence for the benefit of both countries in the years ahead.
