H.E. Gamini Rajapakse, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan presented Credentials to His Majesty King Abdulla II Ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, at Royal Court on Sunday, 4th December 2011.
H.E. the Ambassador and the delegation were accompanied to the Royal Hashemite Court by officials of Royal Hashemite Court and the Ambassador was accorded with a ceremonial Guard of Honour.
After the presentation of the Letter of Credence, H.E. the Ambassador had a brief conversation with His Majesty King Abdulla II Ibn Al Hussein where he conveyed the blessings and greetings from President Mahinda Rajapaksa to His Majesty the King. As part of the ceremony, the Ambassador also proceeded to the Royal Cemetery to lay wreaths at the tombs of Their Late Majesties King Hussein bin Talal, King Abdullah I, and King Talal Bin Abdullah.
A Lawyer by profession, and an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka, Excellency Gamini Rajapakse has also served as a Member of Parliament from 1977-1989, and again from 1994-2000, Deputy Minister of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in 1989 and Minister of Agriculture of the Central Provincial Council from 2002-2004. .
