Ambassador Designate of Sri Lanka to the Republic of Poland and concurrently accredited to the Republic of Bulgaria Priyangika Dharmasena assumed duties at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Warsaw on 10 July 2024.
Addressing the Embassy staff, following the assumption of duties, the Ambassador designate emphasized the need to enhance relations between the two countries to an even higher level for the benefit of both the nations. In that regard, she said that the upcoming high-level visit from Sri Lanka to Poland, will undoubtedly lead toward that end. She requested the steadfast support and commitment of the staff of the Embassy to achieve this goal.
Ambassador-designate Priyangika Dharmasena is a career diplomat with a service of 26 years in the Sri Lanka Foreign Service and she has held many positions at Sri Lanka Missions abroad and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during this period. Immediately prior to her appointments in Warsaw Ambassador Dharmasena served as Director General of the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to that, she had also served as Director General to the East Asia Division of the Ministry. The Ambassador designate has previously served as Sri Lanka’s Consul General in Guangzhou, China and also held several other diplomatic positions at the Sri Lanka Missions in South Korea, Norway, and the United Kingdom. Ambassador Priyangika Dharmasena is a graduate from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and a past pupil of the Ladies College, Colombo 07.
