The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Japan, Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda, received a four member National Youth Council delegation from Sri Lanka on 5th April at the Embassy.
The delegation is currently visiting Japan during their 40 day tour of 18 countries in order to promote the World Conference on Youth (WYC 2014) which is scheduled to be held from 6th – 10th May 2014 at the BMICH in Colombo. In connection with the upcoming WYC 2014, the Embassy organized a Promotional Seminar on the World Conference on Youth 2014 on 7th April 2014 at the Chancery in Tokyo.

Welcoming the delegation and invitees from the Japanese side, Ambassador Karannagoda elaborated on the positive aspects of Sri Lanka’s immense tourist and business potential after eradicating terrorism, under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. Sri Lanka has now become a centre for International Conferences and in the recent past, several international conferences were held in Sri Lanka including the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

Representatives from the Cabinet office of Japan, International Youth Exchange Organisation (IYEO) University students of Meiji Gakuin University, Japan Sri Lanka Friendship Association and Japanese media personal participated in the event.
A presentation was conducted on the WCY 2014 to be held in Colombo by members of the National Youth Council delegation of Sri Lanka and a discussion was held with the participants in order to elucidate them on WCY 2014.
