Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Kuala Lumpur pays a courtesy call on Crown Prince of Perak, Malaysia

Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Kuala Lumpur, M.I. Mohamed Rizvi had the honor of an audience with Crown Prince of the State of Perak, Malaysia, Raja Di-Hilir Perak, Duli Yang Amat Mulia Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain ibni Almarhum Sultan Idris A’fifullah Shah, on 24 January 2025, in the esteemed presence of Her Highness Raja Puan Muda Perak.

During the courtesy meeting, the Acting High Commissioner provided an insightful briefing on Sri Lanka’s political stability, the nation’s remarkable economic recovery, and the significant progress achieved in strengthening foreign exchange reserves. The discussion also highlighted the rapid expansion of the tourism sector, reflecting Sri Lanka’s overall economic resurgence. The Crown Prince and the royal family members were cordially invited to visit Sri Lanka with the Malaysian investors, and experience the country’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

As part of this diplomatic engagement, the Greentown Indian Cultural Society (GICS) organized a spectacular evening cultural performance. The event was graced by Crown Prince, Raja Di-Hilir Perak, Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Kuala Lampur, Mohamed Rizvi, and the Deputy High Commissioner of India in Kuala Lumpur. The vibrant cultural showcase, titled Atulya Bharat, featured mesmerizing traditional dance performances and was attended by over 750 distinguished guests.

Perak Tourism, in an effort to foster cultural exchange, hosted a visit for “Jaffna Tamil Cultural Team” from Sri Lanka in 2024.  Moreover, Perak Tourism is collaborating with the Greentown Indian Cultural Society and the High Commission to invite a Kandyan dance group from Sri Lanka this year. This initiative will further enhance the cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Malaysia, strengthening bilateral relations and promoting tourism.
