A Sri Lankan cultural performance in Myanmar to celebrate the 77th anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka

 

Commemorating the 77th anniversary of the Independence of Sri Lanka, a Sri Lankan cultural performance was organized by Pha Yar Thone Zu Pariyotti Buddhist Monastery in Thumingalar Ward, Thingangyun Township in Yangon, Myanmar on 04 February 2025. The cultural performances were by a visiting Cultural Troupe of the Aukana Rajamaha Viharaya.

The team of performers was headed by veteran dancer Pradeep Kumarasingha and the dancing instructor/teacher of the Galnewa Maha Vidyalaya, Sri Lanka, under the guidance and patronage of the Chief Incumbent of Aukana Maha Viharaya in Sri Lanka, Ven. Sastrawelliye Dhammakiththi Thero.

The event was organized  under the guidance of Chief Incumbent of the Pha Yar Thone Zu Pariyatti Monastery of Myanmar, Most Ven. Nyannobhasalankara Thero, and with the participation of Ven. Vijaya from Pa Thein Monastery, Ven. Vilasa from Sasana Lankara Monastery and Ven. Sukhacara from Chan Thar Gyi Monastery of Myanmar.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Myanmar, Prabashini Ponnamperuma and the staff of the Embassy graced the occasion. A large crowd including Monks, and Nuns, Board Members, disciples, sponsors and followers of the Monastery attended the event and enjoyed Sri Lankan dance performances.
