As part of the Media campaign launched by the Sri Lanka Consulate General Office in Mumbai following the Easter Sunday Attack, a nine (9) member Media Team is visiting Sri Lanka from 28 August to 02 September 2019. The Media Team includes Journalists from leading Indian National Newspapers such as ‘Times of India’, ‘Indian Express’, Regional Newspapers and the prominent International Tourism Journals ‘Lonely Planet’ and ‘National Geographic’.

The objective of the Media Tour is to give an opportunity for the Indian Journalists to visit Sri Lanka and share their first hand opinion and experience to the Indian public especially on the improved security situation in Sri Lanka, four months after the Easter Attack. Their programme is designed to meet these objectives in addition to visits to Galle which is the most favoured destination for Indian tourists, Ramayana sites and the Geoffrey Bawa Country Estate.

The Consul General, Chamari Rodrigo had a briefing with the Media Team on 26 August 2019 at the Consulate prior to their departure to Sri Lanka.

The ‘Media Tour’, organized by the Sri Lanka Consulate General in Mumbai together with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) comprises the first group of Journalists from India visiting Sri Lanka under the media campaign to promote “Sri Lanka as a safe destination for Indian tourists” following the Easter Attack.
