
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Doha facilitated a visit to Qatar by senior officials of the Bank of Ceylon from 15 to 19 February 2026.
During their visit, a networking event was successfully hosted in Doha on 16 February 2026, bringing together the BoC delegation, representatives from partner institutions, money exchange houses and officials from the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Qatar to strengthen collaboration and customer engagement within the Sri Lankan expatriate community.
The event featured a special address by Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the State of Qatar, Sithara Khan, who commended the Bank of Ceylon for its continued commitment as the bank with the largest market share in Sri Lanka, playing a vital role in encouraging Sri Lankans in Qatar to remit funds through legal and secure banking channels.
During the presentation session, BOC representatives highlighted a wide range of facilities that the Bank offers to Sri Lankan expatriates, including attractive loan schemes, awareness sessions, convenient online banking solutions, and customer reward programmes such as “Pita Pita Rata Thegi – Season 4”, which features raffles offering both cash and valuable prizes.
A special highlight of the evening was the awarding of a cash prize of LKR 100,000 to M. Haleem, a lucky winner from the BOC’s ongoing promotional campaign.
The delegation from the BOC Head Office in Colombo, comprised of Deputy General Manager, S. Sivanjan; Assistant General Manager, Upul Wijayathunga; and Executive Officer, Viraga Prabuddana. The networking event was a part of a series of one-to-one meetings conducted during their five-day visit to Qatar.
The event was attended by officials from the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Qatar, including Head of Chancery, Dulanji Herarth, Minister, Dharmasiri Wijewardhana and Third Secretary (E&W), A.M.M. Umarath, representatives of the BOC Doha team and partner exchange companies. The visit and networking engagements in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Embassy in Doha reaffirmed the Bank of Ceylon’s enduring commitment to serving the Sri Lankan community overseas and enhancing its presence in the Middle East region.
