Sri Lanka–Saudi Arabia Explore Ways and Means for Industrial Collaboration

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of Sri Lanka,. Chathuranga Abeyasinghe, met with his Saudi counterpartVice Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs, Eng. Khalil bin Ibrahim bin Salamah, , on 25 January 2026 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources in Riyadh.

During the meeting, Minister Abeyasinghe made a detailed presentation highlighting Sri Lanka’s competitive advantages and investment opportunities in the industrial, chemical, and mineral sectors. Vice Minister Eng. Salamah expressed keen interest in exploring collaboration in the areas discussed, as well as potential avenues for strengthening cooperation in sectors of mutual interest between Sri Lanka and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Both sides agreed to establish a channel of communication between the respective ministries and to share relevant information in the identified sectors, with a view to undertaking follow-up actions.

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Strategies and Industrial Sectors of Saudi Arabia, Eng. Abdulaziz Al-Ahmadi, and the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ameer Ajwad, also participated in the discussion. First Secretary (Commerce) of the Embassy of Sri Lanka Tashma Vithanawasam,  in Riyadh, accompanied the Sri Lankan delegation.
