
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan organized celebrations to mark World Children’s Day on 24 October 2025 at its premises, with the enthusiastic participation of the Sri Lankan children residing in Amman. The event sought to commemorate Children’s Day, showcase Sri Lankan culture, and foster a sense of community and togetherness among young Sri Lankans in Jordan.
The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Jordan J.A.D.S. Priyangika Wijegunasekara highlighted the importance of nurturing children as the future leaders of the nation and underscored the significance of cultural values in shaping their identity at the event. The Ambassador further emphasized the collective duty and responsibility of adults to protect and promote the rights of the children.
The event was attended by over 40 Sri Lankan children along with their parents. Children from various age groups enthusiastically participated in a series of fun and educational activities, including speeches, drawing competitions, fun games, and a colorful children’s fashion show.
The celebrations began with a Pooja Dance performed by a group of Sri Lankan children, followed by a series of captivating cultural presentations featuring traditional Sri Lankan dances and songs. These performances not only highlighted the vibrant heritage of Sri Lanka but also showcased the children’s enthusiasm for preserving and sharing their cultural legacy.
The event successfully combined entertainment and learning while promoting awareness of Sri Lankan culture. Families appreciated the opportunity to connect with one another, and the program fostered a strong sense of pride and belonging among the young participants.
The event concluded with the award of prizes to the winners of the various competitions, followed by a serving of delightful Sri Lankan cuisine and refreshing Ceylon tea for all attendees.
