Sri Lanka Embassy Participates in Annual Diplomatic Bazaar 2025 in Jordan

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan participated in the 61st Diplomatic Bazaar 2025 at Al Hussein City for the third consecutive year. The event was organized under the patronage of Princess Basma bint Talal.

Over 45 foreign diplomatic missions accredited to the Kingdom took part in the Bazaar, showcasing and selling national souvenirs and traditional foods from their countries to raise funds for a local charity.

The Sri Lankan pavilion featured a diverse array of products and handicrafts reflecting the country’s rich culture and heritage. A dedicated corner offered traditional Sri Lankan cuisine and Ceylon tea, including a variety of flavored iced and hot teas, which were warmly received by visitors.

Ambassador J.A.D.S. Priyangika Wijegunasekara extended a warm welcome to the      Princess Basma to the pavilion and introduced her to the Sri Lankan crafts and products. During her visit, Princess Basma commended Sri Lanka’s active and consistent participation in the annual diplomatic charity event, highlighting the strong bonds between the peoples of the two countries. Pavilion officials presented a souvenir to the Princess Basma in appreciation of her visit.

Thousands of visitors attend the Bazaar each year to experience the colorful display of cultures, taste international cuisines, and purchase unique items from around the world.

During the one-day fundraising event, participating countries promoted and sold traditional foods, handicrafts, and cultural products in support of the Mabarrat Um Al Hussein Charity, a safe and nurturing home for disadvantaged and orphaned boys, established in 1958 by the late Queen Zein Al Sharaf, Princess Basma’s mother.
