Embassy of Sri Lanka Hosts Defence Services Command and Staff College Delegation in Egypt     

     

A delegation, comprising 17 officers from Sri Lanka’s tri-forces, from the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) of Sri Lanka, concluded a successful study tour to the Arab Republic of Egypt from 28 July to 8 August 2025.

The delegation, headed by Air Commodore Nipuna Thanippuliarachchi and accompanied by a senior liaison officer from the Egyptian Army, Colonel Mahmoud Gouda, visited the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Cairo on 28 June 2025 and met with the Ambassador Sisira Senavirathne and Mission officials for an official briefing on the program.

The Ambassador emphasized the significance of strengthening bilateral cooperation between Sri Lanka and Egypt across multiple sectors, particularly in defense, noting that visits of this nature serve as valuable opportunities to advance such ties. He expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian Ministry of Defence for hosting the Sri Lankan defense delegation, organizing a comprehensive and meaningful study program, and extending warm hospitality throughout their stay. The Ambassador also conveyed his best wishes to the course participants for their future professional endeavors.

The defense delegation was hosted for an official dinner at the Ambassador’s residence on 2 July 2025, with the participation of Egyptian military officers and Embassy officials. As a gesture of gratitude for the Embassy’s support in facilitating the study tour, the Head of the Delegation, Air Commodore Nipuna Thanippuliarachchi, presented a memento to the Ambassador during the official briefing at the Embassy.
