Saudi Deputy Minister for Human Resources and Social Development receives Sri Lanka Ambassador

Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister in charge of International Affairs at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (HRSD), Dr. Tariq bin Abdul Azeez Al Hamad, received the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Omar Lebbe Ameer Ajwad, at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Riyadh on 6 August 2025.

While extending a warm welcome to Ambassador Ajwad, Deputy Minister Dr. Tariq Al Hamad highlighted the importance of further enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of Human Resources between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka in the context of Kingdom’s Vision 2030. He also underlined the need of strengthening the existing bilateral mechanisms in the fields of labour and employment to facilitate mutual cooperation.

In response, Ambassador Ajwad highlighted the longstanding labour relations between the two countries and appreciated the unwavering support extended by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development of Saudi Arabia over the years in facilitating excellent cooperation that happily exists between the two countries. Ambassador also reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s strong commitment to partner with the Kingdom in achieving its human resources goals under Vision 2030 and expressed Sri Lanka’s readiness to supply skilled and semi-skilled manpower to the Kingdom particularly in hospitality, healthcare, IT and construction sectors.

Both sides agreed to explore avenues for further collaboration in the human resources sector and to maintain close cooperation under the existing bilateral mechanisms for mutual benefits.

Ambassador was accompanied by Minister/Head of Chancery, Mohamed Anas, and Counsellor for Employment and Welfare, Mangala Randeniya at the Sri Lankan Embassy in Riyadh.
