
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador in Stockholm Kapila Fonseka presented credentials to the President of Estonia Alar Karis at a ceremony held in Tallinn, Estonia last week. During this occasion, Ambassador Kapila Fonseka conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Anura Kumara Disanayake to the President of Estonia. He also reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
During his visit to Tallinn, the Ambassador held a series of high-level meetings with senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other key institutions of Estonia. The discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation, with particular attention to trade, tourism, and investment promotion and to explore practical ways of enhancing ties and facilitating greater people-to-people and institutional connectivity between Sri Lanka and Estonia.
Sri Lanka and Estonia enjoy cordial bilateral relations for twenty-nine years since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1996. The two countries held the first round of bilateral consultations in Colombo in 2024.
